Diana Wang, MD serves women from throughout Austin, Texas and the surrounding areas at Austin Area OB/GYN and Fertility. Dr. Wang has special interest and skill in minimally invasive surgery, including single-incision laparoscopic surgery, and is committed to staying on the cutting edge of advanced surgical techniques to better women’s health.

Dr. Wang is a long time Austinite who went to Westlake High School, then stayed on to be a Texas Longhorn, graduating from the Plan II Honors program at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Wang went on to study medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency with the UTMB Austin program, and was one of the first Ob/Gyn resident physicians in the nation to be trained on the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. Dr. Wang practiced as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Ob/Gyn residency in Austin where she was the Director of Skills and Simulation, and introduced Single Site Laparoscopic surgery into the program.

Dr. Wang was recognized with the 2011 National Faculty Award for Excellence in resident education presented by the UTSW Austin OB/GYN residency program, is the 2009 recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award and is the 2022 recipient of the Frist Humanitarian Award from HCA Healthcare.

As a former dancer with Ballet Austin, Dr. Wang continues to perform and choreograph in her leisure. She is fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

I was the first person in office that morning, and it took almost an hour to get called back. They booked me at 8:30, but I waited until after 9 to hear that the lab tech doesn’t come in until after 9. So, I am unsure why I was booked in so early—I share a car and had to drop my husband off an hour before his work started. We could’ve used the time. The experience with the medical providers is always positive. Dr. Wang took 10 minutes to talk about different concerns I had, which I really appreciated. The personnel at the front desk is generally ok. The appointment scheduler didn’t inform me that this appointment would be at least a hour, due to the glucose lab, when I booked (actually, it took over 2 hours). She can act unfriendly/unkindly, so I never enjoy interactions with her and try to limit my words, because her attitude and demeanor makes me feel like I’m putting her out. Finally, each time I engage the front desk, they are trying to collect money that is not my patient responsibility. I know because I have received EOBs—they don’t match the billing portal, which shows no insurance adjustment. The billing representative, Rose, has ignored my emails since mid-August, which is frustrating. So, every time I have an appointment, they’re trying to collect money I don’t owe (and cannot expend and wait for a reimbursement check months later, due to my financial situation). It’s uncomfortable explaining it anew each time with a crowd behind me. Visit before last, the check-in lady asked me if “I’m going to give Rose a hard time again,” when I said I will call her and discuss with Rose; I’ve been nothing but kind and thorough with Rose and shouldn’t be treated as a delinquent. On numerous occasions, I have independently investigated the billing situation to ensure the patient responsibility listed on my EOB matches the online portal. Because of delays with Blue Cross, Violet Crown has received some but not all payments. Therefore, my experience overall is wonderful with the medical providers but otherwise can be largely improved. I value my time with my medical providers most highly.
