Dr. Tricia Shimer, born in Holland to a military family, spent most of her life in Texas. From a very young age she has had a natural curiosity and interest in the sciences, which led her to Texas A&M University where she graduated in 1993 with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston before completing residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Although North Carolina had plenty of opportunity, she could not wait to return to Texas.
She has worked hard to build a successful practice, starting first in McKinney and then moving to Dallas. Tricia attends the Unity Church of Dallas and enjoys all sports, including snowboarding, wakeboarding, cycling as well as coaching girls’ basketball. Dr. Shimer is passionate about her practice and her patients at Presbyterian of Dallas and looks forward to continually meeting new challenges head on. She is an avid learner who stays current on new medical procedures and breakthroughs, bringing her patients the very best care possible.

Dr. Shimer is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The prescription process was somewhat disjointed. I discovered that the prescription to minimize breakouts wasn’t called in to my pharmacy after my first appointment. This resulted in my face breaking out. For my second pellet appointment, I took the initiative to double check that that all requested prescriptions were sent in. I discovered that two were missing. I had to call the office and request for those to be sent in. One prescription was sent to a different pharmacy than requested. I called back and got that corrected. Not the end of the world and everything was corrected but I was disappointed at the level of service on the back end.

I appreciate how Jennifer and Dr. Shimer as well as the other team members at Dr. Shimer's office were very attentive to me as I am 7 weeks' pregnant and have a alot of anxiety around making sure my HCG & progesterone are where they need to be! Everyone at the office has been more than willing to give me advice, reassure me that my blood levels are completely normal, and get back to me in a super timely fashion. For an anxious woman who wants so badly for everything to go well with my pregnancy, this level of support is SO SO appreciated. Thank yall so much <3

Obstetrical (Pregnancy) Ultrasound / Sonogram

I really love Dr. Shimer and feel like I have great communication with her, which makes me feel heard as a patient. The woman working the lab (who does the blood draw) is always gentle but she often seems confused or scatterbrained. She does not communicate well and you are left sitting, wondering what the wait is for. The nurses are friendly, but the woman working the check-in leaves a lot to be desired regarding friendliness. True of my experience yesterday, every time I have talked to her on the phone, and every past visit - she makes me feel like I am an inconvenience to her, and I am almost nervous to ask her a question. Her tone is short and harsh. It's a shame because Dr. Shimer has great bedside manner, but the same does not extend to every member of her staff.

Dr Shimer and medical assistant who checked me in were both friendly and attentive. The one negative of my visit was the front desk staff. She was very short with me when I came to check in and when I asked a question as I was leaving.
